We are currently seeking a Temporary Accounting Specialist to support the Finance Department during a temporary staffing need. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Generate client invoices and upload billing to contractors and state agencies
- Process account adjustments, collections, and respond to billing inquiries
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers and customer account records
- Prepare aging reports and assist with receivable reconciliations
Cash Receipting & Deposits
- Process electronic, mailed, and in-person payments
- Prepare daily deposits and cash receipting reports
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain accurate documentation to support audits and internal controls
Accounts Payable Support
- Process invoices and assist with vendor payments
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Prepare routine financial reports and reconciliation summaries
- Maintain organized financial files and desk procedures
- Provide telephone and customer service support as needed
- Assist with month-end close activities
- Support other Finance staff and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Experience with accounting or financial software systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and office applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional demeanor and confidentiality with financial information
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with accounts receivable, billing, or cash handling preferred
Working Conditions:
- Regular office-based work in Richland, WA
- Prolonged sitting, repetitive hand motions, and frequent telephone use
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds
Contingency of Employment:
- Acceptable background check and driving record required
- Valid Washington State driver’s license
- Access to a personal vehicle and proof of insurance may be required
- Temporary position not to exceed six (6) months; does not guarantee permanent employment
