STARTING SALARY – $16.80-$20.45/Hour (DOQ/DOE)
CLASSIFICATION – On-Call, hourly
LOCATION – On-call position serving eight senior dining centers as needed, with work locations varying based on operational needs.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Substitute Site Lead completes the tasks performed by a Site Lead in their absence, providing staffing at any of our 8 senior dining centers. The Substitute will be present during business hours of operation and will supervise the delivery of meals to homebound clients as well as the service of meals to in-person diners, following established standards of nutrition, health, and sanitation. Paperwork, follow-up, and phone calls are critical tasks for this position. This position is an on-call position who will serve as the “Person in Charge” per Washington State Food Code requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee meal preparation, including set-up, presentation, serving, and clean-up.
- Ensure timely assembly and preparation of food, dishes, utensils, and supplies.
- Supervise and assist volunteers in meal site operations and home-delivered meal services.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, and utensils.
- Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for program participants.
- Attend required meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of participant, staff, and business-related information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Licensing: Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Washington State driver’s license with insured transportation and a Washington State Food Handler’s Card (or ability to obtain within 14 days of employment).
- Experience: Preferred experience in food services (including food preparation, equipment operation, and sanitation standards) and supervisory roles.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency (Word and general skills) and ability to operate standard office and kitchen equipment.
- Interpersonal & Communication: Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally in person and by phone. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Work Habits & Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise good judgement, and respond appropriately to emergencies. Must be organized, dependable, punctual, flexible, and professional.

- Multi-tasking & Adaptability: Capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and following directions.
